coming soon,..

Recently went to Rehoboth beach and had a very good time. A bunch of my co-workers and I went down and spent a few days, we stayed in a camper that had a pond directly behind it that was full of frogs. SO....once I download those pictures, I will have a cool new post devoted solely to the frogs. I am hoping I got some great shots. Look for it to post over the weekend!

beeautiful (yes i know....)

Another favorite from last summer, I was walking around the farm and found this tree just buzzing with bees, so I tried to get a decent picture. I had all kinds of duds, and this is the best from my 5 minutes of effort lasting until I got tired of them buzzing at my head.

my motto

I love unique angles, I go out of my way to find them...it is not unusual to see me in the strangest positions to try to find an interesting shot. My motto is "get low, aim high"...it tends to work. Here are a few tame examples.

farm truck

So this is a funny picture, you are looking at a weed growing in hay in the back of our old farm truck... it actually grew higher than the roof.

two winter favorites

Here are a couple of favorite pictures of mine from a few winters ago.
The first is a random dried flower coming up through the ice. I thought it was pretty unique, so of course I had to photograph it. The second plant was just brilliantly lit up by the sun,
therefore changing the whole dynamic of the picture.

pretty rust

I have an awesome function on my camera that allows me to focus on one particular spot on a picture when using the close-up feature for a picture. I was playing around with this one day and got some interesting results with these barbed wired shots. You can also see an another example of this with the blog titled, "the things you find in your yard" with the turtle picture. I used my focus spot for the eye of the turtle, and left the rest a little blurred, I think it gives the effect of the turtle actually looking at you.

Ash and Sand

In 2003, I traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee to visit a awesomely great friend. That's her (on my left) standing beside me (on her right) in this picture. Her mama named her Amy! We took a road trip (of course!) and traveled to see Cumberland Falls,
(which is in Kentucky) also pictured. It is "the only place in North American you can see a MOONBOW". M-o-o-n spells Moon...Hahahha!

A moonbow can be seen on a clear night with a full moon in the sky. As it happened, it was due to come out the exact night we were planning our trip to the park, having no idea it was due to shine. Also, that night was a total eclipse of the moon, making the moonbow a much longer wait than anticipated. However long the wait, it was totally worth it. I recommend everyone to go to Cumberland Falls State Park and see the moonbow at least once in their lives. It is literally one of the most unique and awe-inspiring sites I have been lucky enough to witness. I was in the middle of a rough patch in my life, and that trip with that moonbow...well, lets just stick with "awe-inspiring!"

I have no pictures to share of the acutal moonbow, because my camera skills were not so good at the time, and also my camera was not so good at the time. Plus, it was incredibly cold, and we had water spraying up at us. I did manage to get some pictures of drops of water.

worst picture ever

I have been getting a lot of nice comments about all of my pictures. So just to prove the point that I suck most of the time and occasionally get lucky, I decided to post the worst picture ever.... this is Spike the dog running towards me with a blue ball in his mouth. His ears flying backwards is what is giving him his cone shaped head appearence, and the flash obviously caused his eyes to become devil like. His high speed rushing towards me caused the burriness of the pic. So yes it is the worst picture ever, and yes I took it, and yes I plan to learn from my mistakes. For now, though, its funny to look at my devil-eyed, blue ball carrying, speed demon.

My travel blanket is finally done!

After a year of hard work by my poor, overwhelmed mother, she has completed the most bestest gift ever. She made for me this amazing blanket that includes embroidery sewouts of all the states, and various animals and other travel images. I know she got so sick of seeing this project that lasted forever, but I really love it and could not wait to show it off to all of my friends. She really is an amazing woman, and I think she likes me!

It wouldnt all fit in the picture, this is the best I could do!

Gotta have a goat!

This pays tribute to Amy, my favorite travel buddy, and my obsession with flipflops. It also has my favorite state I have yet to set those flipflops in...and can only wear there in the extreme heat of summer! Oh and our moose-hunting adventures as well.

More great stuff! freaking awesome!

Fun with Chase

Chasers! What are you so excited about?

What? You want Beer can chicken?

Chase, we need a can, not a bottle

There you go, that's better!

Now What? You want to play with the ball?

My ball, You cannot have it!

I am sleepy, but you still can't have my ball!

Don't touch it!

Don't even think about it!

Stop it Leonard!

Leonard is one of my travel companions. He has been pretty much everywhere I have been. He tends to find himself in the most bizarre situations. He has cured my road rage in Yellowstone National Park, protected us from bears when sleeping in the back of my jeep with the door unable to be latched. He even manages to drive on occasion. He also tends to get the dirty job of keeping me sane....to which I constantly have to tell him to stop.

He has the chicks wrapped around his little finger too! That's Amy with the coolest retarded monkey in the world.

hoodoos abound!

BEHOLD
BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK

Several years ago, my white Jeep was packed to the roof with camping equipment, people, coolers, food, and clothes for an extremely long road trip. We drove from Needmore, PA all the way to New Mexico nonstop (other than gas, food, and potty breaks) right out of the gate. Bryce Canyon was one of my favorite places to visit in our travels. The hoodoos were calling my name all day long. Southern Utah has the prettiest red rocks I have have ever laid my eyes upon. Cannot not wait to get my feet back there!

Museum musings

Guess where we went next while in Philly? Musuems are always fun to visit, and this one was a pleasant finding. I got to see all kinds of interesing artifacts, including a replica of the Rosetta Stone, a page out of The Illiad, mosaics from Rome, statues, and some great Egyptian Hieroglyphs. In a word...Awesome!

This is the top of a dome in the Asian room of the museum.
